[2.3] Playing like a shark - Nami guide
Playing like a shark - Nami guide
Pros
- A kit that contains heals, poke, slows, CC, speedboosts - Everything
- Both her CC abilities are knockups - Which can't be canceled or reduced by tenacity
- Has heal and poke on the same skill - a treat during laning
- Relatively short cooldowns.
- Can initiate fights using her ult.
- Works into almost any team compsition!
Cons
- Squishy like strawberry jelly.
- Her CC skills take more time to cast then other champions, and also require good aim.
- Runs out of mana rather quickly, especially in early game
- Probably smells like fish XD

Item Build Description
Additional information on the items
Let me be very clear -
Nami
needs mana more then I need Ben&Jerry's after a heartbreak. Her skills might have a short cooldown, but they cost a generous amout of mana as well. As such, taking
Sapphire Crystal
will allow you to start stacking mana early, allowing you to spam skills more often while also fully stacking
Seraph's Embrace
quicker. after your first recall, you will have around 1400 gold about 85% of the times. I would typically buy
Tear of the Goddess
along with
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
. Having the tear will allow you to spam skills and keep stacking for
Archangel's Staff
, while
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
offer more speed and cooldown. Don't worry about stacking AP yet -
Nami
has a kit that offers utility more then damage, so ap is not something that should be build quickly. Mana stacking is more important early on.
After that, top your
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
with a nice
Redeeming Enchant
. The guide will teach you a cool combo you can do with it later on. Finish bulding
Archangel's Staff
, as it will offer you a ton of mana and cooldown reduction. It will also safe you in a pinch because of
Seraph's Embrace
passive, which gives you a shield using your mana.
After you have those, continue with the three best items for support:
Ardent Censer
,
Harmonic Echo
and
Athene's Unholy Grail
. What you should build first depends: If your team can benefit from attack speed, build
Ardent Censer
. If the enemy has a poke comp and you have a lot of healing to do, build
Harmonic Echo
. If the enemy Katarina wants to shove a dagger up your bun, build
Athene's Unholy Grail
. Regardless, you should build all three of these items.
If you get to late game (and that's a big if) I'd reccommand
Rabadon's Deathcap
for more AP and either
Morellonomicon
or
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
. Remember - more AP = better heals, shields and buffs. Taking
Morellonomicon
will be useful against teams with lots of heals, while
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
will cause even
Ebb And Flow
to slow, triggering
Weakness
on EVERY one of your skills.
Nami Runes
Best Runes for Nami

So why do we need each rune?
1.
Summon Aery
: More poke and more shields. so, yea.... your clever enough to understand.
2.
Weakness
: [NAMI:1] triggers the effect,
Tidecaller's Blessing
triggers the effect,
Tidal Wave
SURELY triggers the effect. so basically most of your abilities will cause your enemies to take additional damage.
3.
Loyalty
Help yourself and your adc be a little more tanky.
4.
Pack Hunter
: Yea yea, I know I said mana is important for
Nami
, but having
Archangel's Staff
is enough. Your honestly better off helping your team snowball a lead with more gold. also, the bonus movement speed will allow you to keep up with teammates affected by your speed boosts. Trust me - they will run faster then a mob of people rushing to buy the new iPhone.

Combos
Learn how to maximize the champions potential

This is a good poke combo on lane. A lot of players tend to forget that they can buff themselves, not only their adc. As a matter of fact, its actually more beneficial during laning phase, since you won't have to rely on your adc to fully dish out the damage from
Tidecaller's Blessing
. First, start with
Ebb And Flow
. the poke will also heal you if your close enough, which will soften any damage the enemy will throw back. after that, use
Tidecaller's Blessing
to reset
Surging Tides
speed boost. then, just attack away!

This combo is effective when using
Tidal Wave
at close range. Enemies will be slowed after your ult, which will make it easier for you to land
Aqua Prison
. Use this combo when the enemy is close to your team.

As I promised - the cool combo! First, this combo is best when coming to support from far, or when initiating a fight with your ult. First, cast
Redeeming Enchant
on an area your planning to attack. After then, use
Tidal Wave
to follow up with a wave that will reach that area. This will knockup and slow enemies, ensuring that
Redeeming Enchant
hits them. The small window that shows the targeted area will also allow you to aim your ult better. use
Aqua Prison
if you manage to get in range.
Nami Matchups & Counters
Detailed information on how to play matchups and counters
Nami
has heals - you don't! when trading poke,
Nami
always wins because her
Ebb And Flow
also heals her, while
Zephyr
doesn't! Your
Monsoon
also can't knock back a
Tidal Wave
!
how does it feel to be completely countered huh?!
B@#CH!!!

Tips and fishy tricks
1. Nami has great synergy with champions that rely on kill pressure or long range. this includes
Vayne
,
Ezreal
and the best one,
Jhin
.
2.
Ebb And Flow
has two special rules you need to keep in mind: The skill CANNOT bounce to the same targe twice, and cannot apply the same effect twice in quick succesion.
3.
Tidecaller's Blessing
will activate on ANY basic attack or skill that applies on-hit effects. this includes
Mystic Shot
,
Whiplash
and even
Curtain Call
3.use
Tidecaller's Blessing
to speed yourself up when roaming, since it applies
Surging Tides
.
4.
Aqua Prison
can also hit yourself and allies, giving you the speed boost from
Surging Tides
.
5.
Tidal Wave
gives you DOUBLE the effect of
Surging Tides
. You can use it to heavily speed boost your team when facing one direction.
6. if an enemy is nearby, using
Ebb And Flow
on yourself will then bounce to the enemy, allowing you to heal yourself while damaging without having to aim.
7. Even if you are a fish, don't forget to breath when things start looking dark. Keep your mental strong and don't give up :)
